Robert Spencer "Mr. Bobby" Kinney, 81, beloved husband of Hildegard Maria Rausch Kinney died peacefully with his wife by his side at his residence on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Mr. Bobby was born in Aransas Pass, Texas on October 5, 1935 and was the youngest of 11 children of the late Isaac James and Bessie Richards Kinney. He was a retired Military Clinical Specialist in the United States Army. He retired at Ft. Gordon, GA, as a Specialist 6th class in August, 1973. He was trained at Brooke Army Medical Center in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas in San Antonio. After his retirement, he spent a short time in construction as a Safety Inspector and Safety Engineer. He was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. In 1978, he changed careers, and graduated from Augusta Technical School as a Master Cosmetologist. He and his wife had their own Hairstyling Salon for over 25 years in Augusta. Mr. Kinney was an avid Square Dancer where he was President of the Star Promenades Square Dance Club for 3 years. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Aiken.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and their wives, Patrick (Teressa) Kinney of Aiken and Michael (Sandy) Kinney of Graniteville; 1 daughter, Dorothee E. Kinnney; 5 grandchildren, Robert W.A. Kinney, Spencer Allen Milliken, Declan J.C. Kinney, Tara (Tony Sr.) Hunt & Erin Morris; 7 great- grandchildren, Angel Hunt, Kayla Lynn Hunt, Tony Hunt, Jr., Erica Hunt, Travis Scott, Jacob Scott & Emma Scott, 3 great-great children, Kiera Feagan, Timmy Feagan & Marina Claire Flores.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bobby was predeceased in death by siblings, Alice Blanche K. Villiva, Clyde Harold Kinney, Anne Virginia Kinney, Ralph Richard Kinney, Margaret Celeste K. Ray Nelson, Dorothy Evelyn K. Ferguson, Virgil James Kinney, William Edward Kinney, Billie Bruce Kinney, & Horace Haywood Kinney.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00a.m. in the Historic George Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Kincaid officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, S.C.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
