Funeral services for Geraldine Whitt Ashley, 67, of Aiken, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Marion Britton and Rev. Eric Kincaid. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Saturday at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Glenn and Frances Crowe Whitt. She was retired from Owens Corning with over 30+ years of service. She was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where she was part of the Youth Ministry. Mrs. Ashley was also involved in the Prison Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry and the C.A.R.E Team. Mrs. Ashley was preceded in death by her son, William "Billy" Silas; her brothers, Ira Dean Whitt and Ray Earl Whitt; and a sister, Linda Kay Scott.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Silas Milanes (Carlos) of Aiken; sons, Carnell Renew (Jeanne) of Aiken and Thomas Eugene Silas of Brandon, Mississippi; a brother, Glenn Randy Whitt (Cindy) of Aiken; grandchildren, Fran Renew of Rock Hill, Milton Renew (Alicia) of Aiken, Matthew Milanes of Charlotte, Gregory Milanes of Columbia, Hannah Fleming of N. Augusta, Jillian Milanes of Clemson, Jordan Silas of Brandon, Mississippi, Blake Durden of Aiken and Thomas Silas of Brandon, Mississippi; 5 great-grandchildren.
