Obituary of Carole A. Ouimet
Please share a memory of Carole to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
AIKEN, SC- Heaven gained another angel on February 26, 2015, as our mother, Carole Anne Ouimet (Ulrich), finished her work here on earth, reuniting with her rabble rousing family and friends. This trip would not be complete without her everlasting cup of coffee. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Odette Ulrich of New Jersey.
During her years of life (never ask a woman her age!), she graduated from Roanoke College in VA, with her best friend Sue, and embarked on a teaching career that lasted for decades. It was during the first few years of teaching that she met, fell in love and married her husband Gaetan (Phil) Ouimet, who predeceased her 6 years ago. They enjoyed 45 years of adventure together, including a move from New Jersey, to Aiken, SC. The move to Aiken was a semi-surprise, as she came home one day and found a "for sale" sign in her yard; she figured she ought to move or become homeless.
Along her earthly adventures, Carole worked for PC Lavin Hallmark in Somerville, NJ, and then rejoined the teaching field. She spent many years at Holy Family Academy in Bound Brook, NJ positively impacting lives of children who remember her fondly to this day.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Ouimet Markiewicz and son in-law Jay Markiewicz, Aiken, SC, her son David C. Ouimet, Brunswick, GA, and her three grandsons, Zachary, Andrew and Evan, of whom she was fiercely proud and spoiled them rotten! In addition, she leaves behind her talkative cat Annabelle, who was trained to "show her" what she needed, a grand-cat Phoebe and grand-puppy Diesel.
Cancer did not define Carole; she taught her doctors to think outside the box, treating her as the unique patient and person she was. She enjoyed each day with tenacity, a positive attitude, and a generous nature. Her Christmas cookies will live on in infamy (and perhaps David will continue this tradition). She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, the Froude Crowd up North, and her long-time friend and Christmas cookie decorator, Bobbi and her friends and neighbors here in Aiken.
Please join us in raising a final cup of coffee to Carole at 10 AM, Saturday March 7th, at George's Funeral Home in Aiken, SC, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately afterward. A colorful dress code is appreciated as we would like to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, or the Wounded Warriors Project and to initiate a random act of kindness whenever you can.
