Funeral services for Mr. Jerome Edgar Eggert will take place on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Dr. David Cozad officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the time of the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Mr. Eggert, 87, of Aiken, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A son of the late Carl and Myrtle Sommers Eggert, he was born in Sheboygan, WI and had lived in Aiken since 1953. He served in the US Army during WW II and graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin with a degree in Chemical engineering in 1948. He went to work for the DuPont Company and retired from the Savannah River Site in 1983. Mr. Eggert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken. He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years; Mae Thorn Eggert, a daughter; Cheryl Elizabeth Turner, Augusta, GA, a son; Phillip Eric Eggert, Columbus, GA and two grandchildren; Tyler Eric Eggert and Amanda Lynn Eggert.
