AIKEN, SC- Mary Stuart Chamblin, age 65, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 25, 2015.
Mary was born March 21, 1950 in Washington D.C. to the late Stuart Franklin Updike and Lela Athey Cranford. Mary retired from the US Navy Department where she was awarded the Department of the Navy 2005 Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Prior to making Aiken, SC her home in 2005, she was a former resident of Fairfax County, Virginia. Mary was a past member of the Aiken Hounds and member of the Friends of the Woods.
Survivors include her husband, Frederick Chamblin; a daughter, Carolyn Stuart Hylton, Round Hill, VA; two step-daughters, Tracy Solomon, Gaithersburg, MD, and Christy Tardiff, Round Hill, VA; a step-son, Richard Chamblin, Fairfax Co., VA; five grandchildren; a brother, Stuart Franklin Updike, Locust Grove, GA; a sister-in-law, Barbara Updike, McDonough, GA; a sister-in-law and her husband, Roberta and William Stover, Aiken, SC; and a niece, Emily Lukat, McDonough, GA.
Services will be held privately.
