Graveside services for Mrs. Helen L. Philpott will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Southlawn Cemetery with Rev. Floyd Dukes officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 1:30 pm Wednesday at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken.
Mrs. Philpott, 81, of Aiken, died Sunday September 28, 2008 at the Carriage Hills Assisted Living Center, Aiken.
Born in Coal City, WV, she was the daughter of the late Earl Austin and Zula Mae Keffer Duncan. She worked for the Whitman Candy Company of Chicago, IL and the A&P Food Store in Aiken. During war time she worked as Rosie the Riveter on fighter planes. She was raised as a Methodist but in her latter years she was a faithful viewer of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, GA. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and an excellent cook.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Franklin P. Philpott, brothers, Byrd Duncan, James Duncan, Charlie Duncan, Clarence Duncan and Earl Duncan, Jr., and sister, Mary Sears.
She is survived by a daughter, Drema Cole Page, Williston, son, Mike Philpott, Aiken; grandsons; Russ Whitt, Aiken; David Stacie Page, Williston; great-grandsons; Justin Dean Whitt, Tanner Cole Page; a special great-grandmother to Cody Hines. She is also survived by three brothers, Zeb Duncan, Clay Duncan, all from Coal City, WV; Buck Keffer, FL; nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family wishes to make a special mention of her life long friend Ira Haas, and her new & very dear friend Kay Williamson.
