I worked for Mr Orsini as a Major in the Pentagon while he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Logistics. Mr "O" had the most profound impact upon me of anyone in my 31 yr career. He epitomized all that we celebrate of our Nation's greatest generation. He loved our country; he lived and breathed what is expressed as contemporary Army values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. He had a penchant for snagging me to go to lunch in the Pentagon Executive Dining Room and pouring over logistics issues and programs our office was dealing with. After lunch we'd walk a couple orbits around the Pentagon courtyard and he'd always push me to think beyond what we had discussed over lunch . . . "what's next", "what can the Army do better", "are we missing anything", "are we focusing on the right things"? Only years later did I realize that he was investing in the Army (and me) by teaching me, training me. He loved the Army; he made a difference.
