Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. John Van Schaick will be celebrated Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, SC. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 6:15 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, with the family receiving friends following the service until 8:00 PM. Mr. Van Schaick, 80, of Columbus, NC, formerly of Aiken, SC, husband of the late Margaret Bauer Van Schaick, died Saturday, afternoon, April 10, 2004. Born in Hornell, NY, a son of the late Frank and Katherine Lindemann Van Schaick, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC from 1987 until relocating to Columbus, NC, in 1996. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 1985 after 30 years of service and achieving position as the Assistant Directory of Security. A brother, Richard Van Schaick, Dallas, TX; sisters, Norma Kuhn, Columbus, NC, and Carolyn Rider, Lady Lake, FL; and many nephews and nieces survive. In addition to his parents and his wife, a brother, Edward Van Schaick and a sister, Betty Von Ver Ahe, preceded him in death. At the request of Mr. Van Schaick, please make memorials in his memory to the charity of your choice.
