Funeral services for Mr. Paul C Setzer will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 1pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Rev. Donnie Bates officiating. Pallbearers will be: Bodie Rhinehart, Bob Mills, John Gunther, Clarence Deas, Jim Gibbons and David Frady. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to Regency Hospice, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Setzer, 77, of Aiken, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at his residence. Born in Hayesville, NC, he was one of twelve children of the late David Ogden and Willie Mae Thompson Setzer.
He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and also served in the United States Army. Before retiring in the early 1990's, he had worked for Winn-Dixie food stores, working as a manager in both of the Aiken locations where he had worked for over forty years and was well known for his friendly nature. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sara Eidson Setzer, Aiken; a son, John and Pamela Setzer, Warrenville; a daughter, Adena and David Gibbons, Aiken; step-daughters, Pam & Willie Holder, Aiken and Cathy & Bill Bryant, Aiken; and step-son, Glenn Garvin, Wagener; a brother, Charles Setzer, Mesa, AZ and a brother in law, D.C. Hall, Canton, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brian Paul Gibbons, Aiken, Melissa G. and Benjamin Streubel, N. Augusta and Camela Setzer, Warrenville; eight step grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
