Private, graveside funeral services for Mr. Michael A. King will take place at Sons of Israel Cemetery, Aiken. Mr. King, 54, of Aiken, died Friday January 23, 2009. A son of the late Basil & Florence King, he was born in Bronx, NY and had lived in Spring Valley, NY before moving to Aiken five years ago.
Mike was a former administrative coordinator for the Dept. of Anesthesiology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He was also a dedicated paramedic, with twenty-seven years of service, having worked for Saluda County EMS, Aiken County EMS and most recently, Capital City Ambulance Service. He held many advanced certifications and was an ACLS and PHTLS instructor. He would selflessly give his time to the community and would drop whatever he was doing when someone called and asked for help. He was also known for his cooking, photography skills and his love of reading.
Mike is survived by his wife; Susan Stutman-King, Aiken, three children; Elizabeth King, Taryn King and Jonathan King, all of New York, two brothers; Billy & Bobby and three sisters; Lori, Susie and Chrissy. He is further survived by Brian Wendy Yegidis, New York and Robert Stutman, Baltimore, MD. He was a Special Poppy to Haley, Ashley and Ian and was master of Bridgette, his Chocolate Lab.
