Funeral services for Mrs. Mallene McGahee Vander Voort will be held on Thursday December 18, 2003 at 11am at Aiken?s First Baptist Church with Fred W. Andrea, III Ph. D., Pastor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Interment at Aiken Memorial Gardens will be private. Memorial Donations may be directed to Aiken?s First Baptist Church, 120 Chesterfield St., NE Aiken, SC 29801 or the First Baptist Church of Columbia 1306 Hampton St. Cola. SC 29201. Mrs. Vander Voort, 95, of West Columbia, died Monday at Lexington Medical Center. A daughter of the late Artemus and Mattie Reeves McGahee, she was born in Dearing, GA and had lived in Graniteville for a while then to Aiken for 60 years prior to moving to West Columbia two years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and a former member of Aiken?s First Baptist Church where she had been very active in the Sunday school program. She had also volunteered as a ?Pink Lady? at Aiken Regional Medical Centers during the 1970?s and early 1980?s. Her husband, Gilbert Henry Vander Voort died in 1988. She is survived by a son; Henry C. Vander Voort, Columbia, SC, two daughters; Diane V. Asbill, Lexington, SC and Carolyn V. Barthel, Perkasie, PA, two step-sons; Dale G. Vander Voort, Ashville, NC and Robert Richardson, Tennessee. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
