Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Peebles Long will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 4:30pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends form 6-8pm tonight Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Long, 87, of Beech Island, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at her daughter's residence. Born in Clearwater, sc she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Widner Creed. She moved to the Beech Island-Jackson area in 1965. She attended First Baptist Church of Jackson. She worked in the Credit Union department at Clearwater Finishing Plant for seventeen years before retiring as a clerical worker from DuPont Savannah River Site with twenty three years of service. Myrtle was a charter member of the Belvedere Eastern Star Lodge. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Charles C. Peebles, Jr., Harry E. Pebbles, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Ervin Long, Jr., daughter, Lydia P. Ronnie Yates, Seneca, SC; stepdaughter Jean Robbie Robbins, stepsons, Ronald E. Sandra Long, Edgefield, SC; Dennis W. Long, Beech Island, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
