Please share a memory of Lynne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dear Family and Friends,
It is with great sadness that we share with you that our much beloved Lynne D. Gaudreau passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She courageously and optimistically battled breast cancer off and on for the past 12-plus-years. Lynne was a wonderful, gracious and kind friend, a loving and nurturing daughter, wife, sister, and aunt, and animal rights champion. Lynne was beloved by all that knew her. She was a glowing, beautiful, vibrant and inspirational woman with a caring and generous heart. Lynne is and will always be so greatly missed by those that had the privilege to know and love her. She is dancing with the angels and loved the Lord.
Lynne was born November 13, 1955 in San Bernardino, CA to the late Roger A. Gaudreau and Doris J. Gaudreau, retired USAF. She entered the US Navy as an OCS graduate of the University of Maryland and led a distinguished military career that spanned 23 years, retiring as a Navy Commander in October 2002. Lynne saw numerous tours of duty and received many awards for her service including the Distinguished Service Medal. While in the military, she coordinated the Y2K for the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps. Additionally, she was a Space Warfare Specialist.
Lynne and her husband, Tim Halvorsen, made Aiken, SC their home in 2007, having previously lived in Washington, D.C. and Maryland areas for many years. In her beloved community of Aiken, she volunteered for many civic organizations, including the Cancer Center, FOTAS, Pink Ribbonettes, and the Aiken Center for the Arts. She also enjoyed participating in the annual Aiken Veterans Day Parade. Lynne was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Aiken.
In addition to her parents, Lynne was preceded in death by her younger brother, Adam Gaudreau. She is survived by Timothy Halvorsen, her husband of 24 years; brother/sister-in-law Pat and Debbie Halvorsen, Scranton, PA; brother-in-law Tom Halvorsen; Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Laurie Gaudreau, Aiken, SC and Donna Gaudreau, Hudson, FL; brother, Guy Gaudreau, Aiken, SC; niece Natalie Jean Cross, Venice, FL; nephews Zachary Gaudreau, Northport, FL; Tyler and Eric Gaudreau of Mt. Airy, MD; and sister-in-laws Susan Gaudreau, Mt. Airy, MD; Sally Yoder of Wesley Chapel, FL; and her much loved pets, Jake and Bear.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the George Funeral Chapel in downtown Aiken, SC.
