At my first AHS reunion (our 50th) I had an opportunity to
talk to Richard. The first thing he said to me was, "Do you
remember that I drove your bus?" After 50 years, that was
our first chat. It was wonderful to catch up with him.
My prayers to all the family and friends. May GOD fill you
with HIS peace and comfort at this time.

Wishing your family peace as you celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas without your loved one. I know you cherish your precious memories and know that he doesn't have to suffer any more. I was a classmate of his from Aiken High School and remember his wonderful sense of humor. God bless you all.

Richard and I became friends about 4th grade and shared many adventures together till we parted after Graduation from AHS in '62. We remained in touch throughout the years and always enjoyed reliving a little of the past when we could get together. Sandy and I enjoyed getting to know Annette and Shelley and he never failed to tell me how much you both meant to him . I'm glad we were able to meet last month and share a little of the smiles and laughter. He was so proud that he was going to be a grandpa.
I was able to sneak in on him at one of the family night dinners at Hounds Lake and gave him a big kiss on the cheek. Before turning around he said," Well, what pretty young thing do we have here!" When he saw who it was he said " Don't you ever kiss me again!!" I regret that I'll never have the chance to embarrass him again.
He never forgot the advice I gave him in High School when we were faced with a coming fight after the LBC football game. " Stand tall and swell up as big as you can, maybe they will run". He did just that with his last battle, but it was not to be .
Lets all remember the laughter and joy and love he brought to our lives.

Annette and Shelley, my heart is so saddened by the passing of Such a wonderful friend. He fought the greatest battle of his life. I pray one day, you can find a special memory that will bring a smile to your face daily. We shared so many memories with y'all. Cruises, trains, flights. I can't think of much we didn't do together as our children were growing up. One thing I know for sure with both of us is, we were loved by a great man and the great man in our lives knew they were loved. Not everyone has that experience, but we sure did. Hang on to that feeling of being loved. God bless you and Shelley and give you the strength you need to carry on. I will miss his funny self so much.

I first met Richard in elementary school in Aiken back in the 50's.
He was very pleasant and friendly in nature. During the years since our graduation in '62 we would frequently met at our reunions and I still enjoyed his company. I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Richard's family.

"He was my friend, faithful and just to me..." (Shakespeare in Julius Caesar)...We shared golf, cruises, many adventures( and a few mis-adventures!), laughs, and a even as few tears during our friendship. I knew him 11 years--but it seemed like I'd known him forever. I will miss him greatly. My heart goes out to Annette and Shelley, who were so very dear to him. Vio con dios, my friend...
