Aiken, SC-Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Klein Burton will be held Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 2 PM at St. John?s United Methodist Church, Aiken, SC, with Reverend Eugene Mullikin and Reverend Doug Gilliland officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Cole, Billy Cole, Danny Turno, David Turno, John White, and Mark Pitts. Members of the Aiken Regional Medical Centers Ladies Auxiliary are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 13, 2003 from 3 PM until 6 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC.
Mrs. Burton, 83, of Aiken, SC, widow of Hugh Burton, died Thursday, night, December 11, 2003 at Carriage Hills Plantation.
Born in Fairbury, NE, she had been a resident of Aiken, SC, since 1953, where she was a very active member of St. John?s United Methodist Church and retired after twenty years of service as secretary to the Chancellor at U.S.C.A. She was also a member of the Aiken Regional Medical Centers Auxiliary.
A son, David and his wife Carol Burton, Aiken, SC; granddaughter, Beth and her husband, Tim Crabb, Aiken, SC; grandson, Michael and his wife, Serena Burton, Aiken, SC; and great-grandchildren, Kimberly Sharpe, Michael, David, and Maryhelen Burton, survive.
The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mrs. Burton be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box Drawer K., Aiken, SC 29802.
