Obituary for Joseph Edward Lofgren
Joseph Edward Lofgren, 74, of Aiken, SC passed away August 21, 2014. He was born on April 2, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to the late Eskel Lofgren and Josephine (Kossman) Lofgren. His brother, James Lofgren, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Mrs. Geri Lofgren and his two devoted children: Ocean and Mary. Joe is also survived by three nieces.
He was retired from a career with IBM, after over 32 years of service. Prior to that, he served as a Brother in the congregation of Blessed Sacrament of Fathers and Brothers. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University.
Some of Mr. Lofgren's primary passions were his family, horses, physical fitness and spiritual service. Joe was an active volunteer in the community, completing a century ride (100 mile bike ride), a half marathon and a full marathon for Team In Training, which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He provided service to seniors in need by volunteering weekly for Meals on Wheels. He was very active in his church, serving as a Eucharist minister. Joe was also very proud of his involvement with the Aiken County Bike Club.
Joe spent many pleasant hours at Stable On The Woods with his beloved horse, Bruce.
