Funeral services for Mr. Harry P. Varallo will be held later this week in Upper Darby, PA. Mr. Varallo, 96, of Aiken, died Sunday August 27, 2006 at Eden Gardens Care Center, Aiken. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer?s Research, C/O the Aiken County Council on Aging, PO Box 3156, Aiken, SC 29802. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, is assisting the family. A son of the late Gabriel and Angelina Delalla Varallo, he was born in Philadelphia, PA and had lived in Upper Darby, PA before moving to Aiken in 2001. Mr. Varallo served in the United States Navy during W.W.II. He retired in 1969 as the Postmaster for the Upper Darby Post Office. An avid golfer, he won, as an amateur, the Hershey, PA Pro Am Tournament in 1935. He continued to play golf until he reached his early 90?s. Mr. Varallo was a former communicant of St. Alice Catholic Church, Upper Darby and was very active in their senior citizens program. In addition to his parents, Mr. Varallo was pre-deceased by his wife, Elsie M. Varallo, who died in 2001 and two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by two sons, Thomas and his wife, Susan Blumenthal Varallo, Aiken, SC and Joseph P. Varallo, Upper Darby, PA. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Amy Varallo, Aiken.
