Obituary of Lillian Varner Thompson
Lillian Ruth Varner Thompson, 81, a resident of Aiken since 1962 passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Aiken Regional Medical Facilities following an extended illness.
Born in Union County, SC on February 5, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Mige Sylvester and Fujie Roark Varner.
Mrs. Thompson was retired from Thermo Disc and was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church. She loved crossword puzzles and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Surviving her include 2 daughters, Kim T. Lever & Sherri T. (Kent) Daniel both of Aiken; 6 sisters, Vera Beck & Carol Stepp both of North Augusta, Evelyn Brown, Lillie Kirby & Linda Bishop all of Union, SC and Faith Edland of Greer; 1 brother, R.P. Varner of Union, SC. and 4 grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was pre-deceased in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred Thompson in 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00a.m. on Sunday, August 5th, 2018 at the George Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Heyward Horton officiating. Interment services will follow in Southlawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00- 6:00p.m. Friday, August 3rd, 2018 at the Historic George Funeral Home, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
