Estelle Steinlauf Brooks, devoted wife for 59 years of the late Milton Brooks Esq., passed away on June 11, 2008. Born on September 29, 1908, Estelle passed away at the young age of 99. She leaves one son, Alan I. Brooks, daughter in law Regina S. Brooks Ginny of Aiken, SC; two grand children, Chad Frederic Brooks Gloria Cooper-Brooks and Toni Rachelle B. Newman Alan L. Newman and two great grandchildren, Miller Daniel Newman and Sophia Brooke Newman.
Estelle Brooks was formerly of Philadelphia, PA and West Palm Beach, FL and a resident of Aiken, SC for the past nine years. Estelle was a long time volunteer at Philadelphia's Albert Einstein Medical Center. Estelle was also a life member of Hadassah. She headed the Adath Jeshurun Synagogue gift and ceremonial shop in Philadelphia for over 30 years, where she and Milton were members their entire lives. They were part of a proud four-generation family affiliation with the Synagogue. Upon arriving in Aiken in 1999, Estelle volunteered at the gift shop of the Aiken County History Museum, was a member of Adath Yeshurun Synagogue in Aiken, SC, a member of Newcomers Club of Aiken and Town and Country Club of Aiken. An avid knitter and bridge player, Estelle Brooks was a beautiful, perky, stylish lady who was a friend to all and loved by all.
A memorial service will be held at Cumberland Village Retirement Community, 3335 Wise Creek Lane, Aiken, at 11:00 am, on Friday, June 13, 2008. A graveside service will be held in Philadelphia, PA at the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 1855 Bridge Street, on Tuesday, June 17th at 1:00 pm.
