Funeral services for Mr. Henry R. Gunter will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 10am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Rev. Kevin Carter and Rev. Davis Lester officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow at Talatha Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm. Mr. Gunter, 87, of Aiken, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 27, 2009 at his residence. A son of the late Jesse D. and Isabelle Smith Gunter, he was born in Gilbert, SC and moved to Aiken County in 1936. He served his country in Italy & North Africa in the US Army 110th Quartermaster Company. He then worked as a printer for the Clearwater Finishing Plant, retiring after forty-one years. Henry was a member of Talatha Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Fletcher Franklin Gunter; a grandson, Joseph David Davey Gunter; a sister, Ida Mae Gunter Hayward; and a brother, Trudell Gunter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years; Audrey Elizabeth Seeby Gunter, four sons; David H. Linda Gunter, Wagener, SC, Wesley M. Barbara Gunter, Aiken, A. Hoyt Gunter, Aiken and James, "Jimmy" Gunter, Aiken, a brother; Floyd David "Top" Gunter, Aiken, four sisters; Oberia "Bea" Gunter Boyd, Langley, SC, Ellen Whisenant, Clearwater, SC, Louella Gunter Vaughn, Aiken and Rose Gunter Craps, Batesburg, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
