Dear loved ones of Doug,
I did not know Doug personally, but I did enjoy watching him dance at the Yellow Rock. Anybody could tell he really enjoyed it, and he always had a smile on his face. My heart is sad today because of the loss of my beloved cousin. He always made everybody laugh. One of my fondest memories of him was the way he always liked to pick on Grandma Mimbs, & I can see her as if it were yesterday looking over her glasses, & DeeDee would be messing with her & she would kinda chuckle & then she'd say,"Now Douglas, you need to cut out all that foolishness, & he would just turn his back & get that big ole grin on his face. Oh, how he loved that woman, & loved picking on her. He will be greatly missed but, never forgotten.
My family and I are so very sorry for the loss of Douglas. I was not very close to him, but from the funny stories I've heard from my family, he was so much fun to be around. My thoughts and prayers are with Doug's entire family. His friends at The Gathering Christian Dance in Columbia will truly miss him. We all loved him.

DeeDee will be greatly missed. My grandmother will surly miss him at the dance hall. Amaryllis Mimbs and I Christy Wilson, daugther of T.G. Gillis and Linda Gillis will surly miss all his stories that he has a wonderful way of telling.
Today we lost a precious cousin, who could fill a room with laughter with all his funny stories. He could make you laugh when you did not want too. He will be sorely missed in this world but will live in our hearts as long as we all live. To his family, you have our prayers and our love to carry you through. May God bless each of you in the coming days ahead. We will see you all at the funeral.
Shelvie and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I didn't know Douglas very well, but felt that I knew him through all mama's stories of growing up with him. I know you will really miss him and I am so very sorry for your loss. I know Mother wishes she could be with you on Saturday, but you will be in both our thoughts and prayers. Love, Vickie
