Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Elliott Houwers will be held Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 2pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Gerald Reiter officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, November 25, 2006 from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Mrs. Houwers, 85, of Aiken, died, Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Houwers was born in South Boston, VA to the late William Marshall Arrington and Pattia Panthea Elliott. Mrs. Houwers worked various positions at DuPont for four years and a house mother at St. Angela Hall for two years. Nancy was a loving caregiver, last surviving charter member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, homemaker and took care of her husband for six years before he died in 1980. Mrs. Houwers' grandson, Jerome, provided loving care of her until her journey here was complete.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Houwers was predeceased by her husband, Jerome W. Houwers, brothers, William Elliott, and Samuel Elliott. Mrs. Houwers is survived by her daughters, Pamela McCollum, Patricia Donald W. Taylor, Jr., both of Aiken, son, William Raymond Laura Houwers, Miami, FL, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and three step grandchildren and their families.
