Funeral services for Mr. Alfred R. ?Butch? Hahn will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 1 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Aiken, SC with Pastor Robert T. Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Dr. Leo Hall, Austin Hall, Derrick Hahn, Edward Holsonback, Elmer Shealy, Jimmy Bunch, Allan Bunch, and Ronnie Binns. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Pioneer Partners and Ernie Stark. The family will receive friends Monday, December 5, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC.
Mr. Hahn, 85, of Aiken, SC, died Saturday, afternoon, December 3, 2005 at Pepperhill Nursing Center, Aiken, SC.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Fred Hahn and the late Nellie Steele Hahn Sullivan and was a member of the Aiken High School class of 1937. Mr. Hahn retired from Southern Bell in 1976 after thirty-five years of service as a Network Supervisor. He was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he had formerly served on the church council and sang in the choir and was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Gladys Rodgers Hahn, a daughter, Diane Hahn Hall, Dr. Leo Lexington, SC; son, Fred Hahn, Cheryl Aiken, SC; sister, Catherine Woodward, Aiken, SC; brother, Richard Sullivan, Linda Aiken, SC; and grandchildren, Erin, Derrick, and Beverly Hahn and Austin Hall. A daughter, Susan Hahn Arthur, preceded him in death.
