Funeral services for Mr. James B. Adkinson, Sr. will be held Monday, December 20, 2004 at 2 PM at Hollow Creek Baptist Church, Aiken, SC with Pastor Roy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 19, 2004 from 6 until 8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC. Mr. Adkinson, 80, of Aiken, SC, died Friday, morning, December 17, 2004 at his home. Born in Aiken County, SC, a son of the late Earl and Minnie Lee Widener Atkinson, he retired from E.I. DuPont in 1981 where he had been an Operator. He was a member of Hollow Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Ruby Boyd Adkinson, Aiken, SC; step-mother, Josie Williams, Aiken, SC; daughter, Minnie Lee Forrest, Ridge, MD; sons, James B. Adkinson, Jr., Beech Island, SC, Gerald Adkinson, Sr., Aiken, SC, and Ronnie Adkinson, Jackson, SC; brothers, Robert Adkinson, Langley, SC, Edward Adkinson, McBean, GA, Wade Adkinson, Wagener, SC, and Earl Adkinson, Batesburg, SC; sisters, Shirley Proctor, Gloverville, SC, Mary Forehand, Gadsden, AL and Joanne Roscoe, Cheraw, SC; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Sons, Randy Charles and Carl Adkinson preceded him in death. The family has asked that memorials be made to the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 3694, Aiken, SC 29802.
