MERCKE, MARTHA MILLS, 80, a resident of Cumberland Village, died Sunday, October 3, 2010. Ms. Mercke was born in Louisville, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late James Wortham Mercke and Martha Mills Waterfill Mercke. She was retired from Dupont. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken where she taught Sunday school and was a Stephen minister. She was a member of the Garden Club of Aiken, a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Colonial Dames XVII Century and on the Board of The Friends of Hopelands and Rye Patch, Inc. She is survived by several cousins. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 14 at First Presbyterian Church of Aiken with Rev. Dr. David Cozad officiating and Senior Director of Pastoral Care, Jane Keisler. Private graveside services will be held in Louisville, KY.
