Funeral services for Mr. Theron Sevier "Chick" Tate, will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 11am at Cedar Creek Church, Aiken, with Pastor Richard
Swift officiating. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be Mr. Mike Biddle, Mr. Jerry Buckner, Mr. Wayman Corley, Mr. Daryl Hopperton, Mr. Robert Tarrant, and Mr. Don Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International. Visitation will be after the service until 1pm at the church. George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken is assisting the family. Mr. Tate, 83 of Aiken, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 at University Hospital, Augusta.
A son of the late Caleb and Blanche Justus Tate, he was born in Ellenboro, NC and moved to Aiken in 1998 from Manchester, GA. Mr. Tate retired after thirty-five years as a Sales Executive and owner of Manchester Business Forms and other businesses. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church, Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International, and the Annabelle George Home Group. Mr. Tate was an avid pilot, fisherman, and softball player. He proudly served his country in World War II in the Army.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Tate. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillie Rhyne Tate; daughter Cheryl Tate Allen, Aiken; son, Jeff Tate and his wife Valerie, Smith Station, AL; sister, Alma Garrett and her husband Irvin, Belmont, NC; brother, Howard Tate and his wife Martha, Chapel Hill, NC; sister in law, Joy Tate, Iron Station, NC; grandchildren, Jason Tate, Lawrenceville, GA, Eric Tate and his wife Theresa, Columbus, GA, Erin Franks and her husband Rev. John, Augusta; great grandchildren, Callie Franks, Anna Bray Franks, Caleb Franks, and Guy Preston, III.
