Obituary of Jean Louise Korbelik
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Jean Louise Korbelik, 95, of Aiken, formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Trinity on Laurens, Aiken.
A daughter of the late Percival Lawrence and Louise Hartman Lawrence, she was born in Bellville, IL and had been living in Grand Island, Nebraska before moving to Aiken in 2002.
Jean had the rare gift of being happy and content. She never shrank from adversity, whether it be the social politics facing a Naval Commander's wife, the challenge of raising four teenagers in Santa Barbara during the 1960's; or the determination in later life to acquire skills and get a job. Her style was to accommodate when she could but not give in or give up. Put her in a room of strangers and in 15 minutes half the crowd will be visiting with her and each other. A remarkable woman who was peaceful, strong, and happy, she will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Korbelik; a daughter, Linda Kreutzkampf, a son, Larry Korbelik and a brother, Jack Lawrence.
She is survived by two daughters, Carie Ramey, Oahu, HI and Sandra Korbelik, Aiken; six grandchildren and three, great grandchildren
A memorial service will take place at 7pm on Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the Community Room of Trinity on Laurens, 213 Laurens St. NW Aiken. GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Aiken is assisting the Korbelik family.
