Obituary of Elsie Zona Blystone

Elsia Zona (Elsie) Blystone, 93, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 18, 2018. Born in the city of Balboa in the former U.S. territory known as the Canal Zone (now Panama), she was
the daughter of Manuel P. Arruda of New Bedford, Mass. and Adela Badiola Arruda of Cocle Province, Republic of Panama.
Elsie moved to Aiken, SC in 1964, with her husband and two eldest sons. She worked as a bookkeeper at Owens Corning Fiberglass, Hubbell, Gentry Instruments before retiring from Memorial Baptist Church. She loved being outside, enjoyed gardening and her home won several "Yard of the Month" awards in her neighborhood. She was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christians Church and enjoyed camping at the St. Mary's Campground at Clarks Hill Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Arthur L. Blystone, Sr. stepbrother, Carlos Badiola, and two sons, Arthur L. Blystone, Jr. and Charles L. Blystone, Sr.
She is survived by her sister, Emma Gloria Reynolds, her son, Marvin C. Blystone (Lynda), daughters-in-law, Glenda C.Blystone and Nevada R.Blystone, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., Final prayers and commendations will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME.
The family would like to thank Trinity on Laurens and Pruitt Health of Aiken for their comfort and care during Elsie's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to St. Mary's Help of Christians Church.
