Obituary of Thomas M McGahee

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas M. McGahee will take place on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 3pm at the Chapel of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be Chad G. McGahee, Nathan K. McGahee, Joshua T. McGahee, Greg Rooks, Eddie Bentley and Aaron Ratner.
Mr. McGahee, 83, of Aiken, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Jefferson County, Georgia, he was the son of the late L. Clifford McGahee and Lois Humphrey McGahee, he was one of sixteen children. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Coming from Avera, Georgia, he moved to Aiken over sixty years ago. He owned and operated the Tom's Potato Chip distributorship in Aiken County for many years and he was a long time member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hadden McGahee, Aiken; two sons, Guy L. (Teresa) McGahee, Aiken and Charles McGahee, Aiken; three brothers, Harold McGahee, Louisville, GA, D. W. McGahee, Louisville, GA, and Fay McGahee, Louisville, GA and a sister, Frances Bradley, Gibson, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chad G. (Heather) McGahee, Ashley R. McGahee, Kirbi N. (Aaron) Ratner, Nathan K. McGahee and Joshua T. McGahee and four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
