Obituary of Tommie Tigue Lybrand

Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Tigue "Bucky" Lybrand, Jr. will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 1pm in the chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Pastor Keith Ussery officiating. Pallbearers will be: Gary Hall, Thomas Hall, Danny Strickland, David Redd, Lee Thigpen and Jeremy Yonce. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Mr. Lybrand, 80, of Aiken, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A son of the late Tommie T. Lybrand, Sr. and Tura Satcher Lybrand, he was a life long resident of Aiken County. He was a retired finance manager for the Aiken branches of Bank of America and Chrysler First. Bucky was an avid golfer and fisherman and was co-founder of the first Aiken High School Golf Team in the late 1940's and was proud to have played in the National Junior Amateur Championship in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Lybrand; a brother, Elihue Lybrand; and three sisters, Margaret Hall, Glynnie Yonce and Gladys McGhee.
He is survived by his common law wife, Marilyn Kerrigan, Aiken; a daughter, Sheryl Cofer, Aiken; two grandsons, Brian K. Jennifer Lybrand, Aiken and Michael Cofer, Lexington; a granddaughter, Melissa Shawn Bryan, Aiken and a special niece, Betty Jean Strickland. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
