Mary Frances Sweet Herold, 87, passed away August 1, 2010 at Pepper Hill Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10am at Aiken Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at 11am at St. John's United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Denny and Diane Giddings following the service. Born in Madison, WV, Mary was the daughter of the late Kelley and Marie Massey Sweet. Mary was a long time resident of Aiken County, working in the medical field as a secretary for various doctors, at the "old" hospital and Croft House. She volunteered with ACTS, the adult literacy program, receiving an award for her work with the adults in that program, and the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved gardening, bird-watching and her precious dogs. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Andrew L. Tom Herold, her aunt, Dempsey Sweet Norris Burckhalter and her brother, William H. Sweet. Mary is survived by a niece, Jean Morford of Hollywood, Fl and a sister, Toby Ann Swecker from Bluegrass, VA.
