I worked with Bill at Tetra Tech. He was well liked, always cheerful, and insightful on technical issues, instrumental in solving many a problem. I was glad to have him on our team. He amazed many of us with his exploits while he was in his 80's: skiing Colorado, touring the Black Sea, and other adventures. We all look with fondness on our memories of Bill in the office. Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Coming from Hanford in 1988, I got the opportunity to work with Bill in Savannah River Lab's reactor group. At Hanford, the original DuPont engineers and scientists had long moved on. But at Savannah River, I found many of the mythical 'Old Ones' who had designed and built the plant still on the job. Bill certainly deserves a spot in that select group - a truly world-class scientist but with no airs or pretension, willing to show the 'new kid' the ropes while sharing tales of his latest escapades. Always a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed. Wade and Linnea Bickford, Aiken
