Carl Lucious Burnette, 75, of Aiken, was called to rest on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Hospital after a 2 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease).
Family and friends are encouraged to attend graveside services on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Aiken Memorial Gardens, with Pastor George Burckhalter officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Barton, Kenny Kneece, Zane Bryant, Ellis Ray "Dude" Waters, Orlando Fernandez and Mark Brooks. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME.
Born in Williston, a son of the late Silas William and Irene Osborn Burnette, he was a long time resident of Aiken. He was a retired equipment operator and was an original member of Fox Town Buck Club and he loved to go hunting and fishing. Carl was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend.
Carl, the youngest of 11 siblings is preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Kitchings, Sarah Murdock, Tommie Lee Lewis, Kathy Butler, Margaret Albunio and Lucille Grice as well as his brothers, James, F.C. and E.L. Burnette.
Carl leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Gloria Jean Burnette of Aiken; daughters, Johnnie Irene Burnette of Batesburg and Debbie Burnette Fernandez (Orlando) of Bristow, Virginia; a brother, Paul Lanier Burnette of Slidell, Louisiana; a granddaughter, Carolyn Burnette Bryant (Zane) of Latta; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Zoey Bryant of Latta and his little buddy Willie.
