Lehocky Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 11am at St. Peter?s Catholic Church, Columbia. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, Aiken, was charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mubarak, 84, of Columbia, died Sunday July 21, 2002. A son of the late Said and Sophie Maroun Mubarak, he was born in Quincy, MA. Before retiring in 1959, he had been a freight manager for Iraqi Petroleum Company in Lebanon. He returned to the United States in 1976, settling in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a communicant of St. Peter?s Catholic Church, Columbia. He was a member of The Americian-Lebanese Club.
He is survived by his wife Fadia Assaf Mubarak; daughter and son-in-law Ferial and Bassam Shalhoub, Boston, MA; sons and daughters-in-law Freddy and Diane Mubarak, Columbia & Dr. Philip and Joanne Mubarak, Columbia; a sister, Mary Safouri, Delaware; nine grandchildren and one great-grand daughter. Memorial donations should be directed to St. Peter?s Catholic Church or South Carolina Oncology Associates in his memory, at 1301 Taylor Street, Suite 1-A, Columbia, SC 29201. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Leland Joe McElveen and his staff at the SC Oncology Associates at Palmetto-Baptist Medical Center as well as the caring staff on the 8th floor of Palmetto-Baptist Medical Center.
