A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass for Mr. Kenneth Ray Dheel, Jr. will be celebrated by Fr. Tim Lejewski on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 12 noon at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Interment, with military honors will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darryl Ables, Jason Tufts, Marion Kneece, Doug Holloway, Ricky Pough and Matthew Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Waste Management. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Jackson First Alert, 508 Atomic Rd. Jackson, SC 29831 or to Belvedere-North Augusta Rescue Squad, 139 Edgefield Rd., North Augusta, SC 29841. Mr. Dheel, 68, of Beech Island, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at his residence. A son of the late Kenneth Ray Dheel, Sr. and Lola Marie Harrah Dheel, he was born in Smithers, WV and had lived in Aiken County for over forty years. He served his Country for eight years in the US Army as a sniper and auto mechanic in Germany & Korea, receiving numerous commendations and decorations. He was a past commander of American Legion Post #169, New Ellenton. Before retiring in 2009, he had worked as a truck driver for Waste Management Company for over twenty-six years. In 1995, Augusta Magazine published an article about him and his work, highlighting his sense of humor. An accomplished musician, he loved the guitar and drums. It was said that he could play any stringed instrument…except a fiddle. He had the gift of being able to listen to a song and then play it. He is survived by three daughters; Kelly Mike Lowry, Lynn Phelps and Kymberli Robbins, all of Beech Island, two sons; Kenny Robbins and Carlton Anderson, Both of Beech Island, a grandson; Kristopher Lowry, Beech Island and an "adopted brother and sister in law", Mike and Carol Tufts, Aiken. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
