Obituary of Christine Widener Poore

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Widener Poore will take place at 1pm on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Rev. Chris Masters officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrin Widener, Mark Widener, Adam Poole and Willie Sizemore. Honorary pallbearers will be John Griffith and Claude Sizemore. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8pm.
Mrs. Poore, 78, of Aiken, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Unihealth-PAC, Aiken. She left behind many family members and friends who will miss her smile and loving ways. She was always there to lend a helping hand and give generously of her time.
The daughter of the late Ikey Lloyd Widener and Myrtle Atkinson Widener, she was a life-long resident of Aiken County. She had been the owner/operator of the former Aiken Answering Service and had been a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. Following her years of managing her business, she changed careers, becoming a certified nursing assistant. Over the next decade, she brought care and comfort to elderly people in their homes.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Clinton and Wade Widener; four sisters, Eunice Hagan, Opal Widener, Racheal Holmes and Juanita Sizemore.
She is survived by a brother, Benjamin Thelma Widener, Charlottesville, VA; two step-sons, John Poole, Aiken and Jesse Poole, Accokeek, MD, a step-grandson, Adam J. Poore, Aiken and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Judy Pitts and Betty James for their loving care and friendship to Christine.
