A Funeral Mass for Mr. Archibald Atchinson Weaver, II will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 12 noon by Fr. James LeBlanc at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Aiken. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC. Mr. Weaver, 69, of Aiken, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Archibald A. Weaver, I and Lillian Myers Weaver.
He served in the US Army Signal Corps for twenty years, being deployed twice to Viet Nam, twice to Germany and once to Korea. He received several medals, including a Bronze Star and a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, w'Palm. After retiring from the Army, he continued serving his Country with the Dept. of Defense as a communications instructor at Ft. Gordon.
He was a thirty-five year resident of Aiken and a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church; he was a Perpetual Adorer and a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He always had a smile and was a Carolina Gamecock fan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Lee Cline.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Salley Weaver, Aiken; a son, Michael Connie Weaver, Aiken; a daughter, Terri Chris Rieke, Aiken; three sisters, Mary Knott, Dallas, PA, Teresa Schafer, Hagerstown, MD and Roberta Henson, Cacapon, WV; a God-son, Bradley L. Henson, Aiken and five grandchildren, Lindsey Vanderford, Kaitlyn Rieke, Ryan Rieke, Ashley Weaver and Caroline Weaver all of Aiken.
