Obituary of Ethel Catherine Kizer Ayer

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Catherine Kizer Ayer will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 3:30 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob Ferguson, Allan Moore, Ryan Kizer, Ian Kizer, Joey McGlothin and Philip Gleason. The family will receive friends at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken on Tuesday from 6-8pm.
Mrs. Ayer, 90, of New Ellenton, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living, Aiken, where she stayed for the last three years. The family would like to thank the Shadow Oak's staff and Alliance Hospice for their loving care.
A daughter of the late James Kizer & Sarah Bowman Kizer, she was born in St. George, SC where she lived until moving to New Ellenton in 1963. Her family was her life and she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her siblings Eula Kizer, Ida Carn, Lillie Lowery, Richard W. Kizer, J. Palmer Kizer and her first husband, David McCoy Kizer in 1957 and her second husband, Glenn Allan Ayer, who died in 2006.
She is survived by a son Glenn Kizer, Santa Fe, NM, two daughters, Cynthia Kizer Papalski and her husband Joe, Aiken and Kathy Ayer Moore and her husband Philip, New Ellenton; a brother, David T. Kizer, Spartanburg, SC; and two sisters, Mary Wimberly, St. George, SC and Ruth Allen, Milton, FL. She is also survived by dear friend Becky Kizer, Knoxville, TN and seven grandchildren, Rob Katie Ferguson, Lea Ann Joey McGlothin, Ashley Philip Gleason Thornton, Ryan Stacie Macht Kizer, Ian Kizer, Allan Jessica Moore and Jessica Cale Gustafson Moore; two great grandchildren, Caleb McGlothin and Kaylea McGlothin. She was also anticipating the birth of her third great grandchild and namesake, Margaret Catherine Ferguson, who is due in January.
