A Requiem Mass for Mrs. Joyce C. Russo will be celebrated by Fr. Gregory Wilson at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:30am. There will be a visitation at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken on Monday evening from 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be directed to your local Catholic Charities.
Mrs. Russo, 72, of Aiken, died suddenly on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Georgia Health Sciences MCG in Augusta, GA.
A daughter of the late Albert Chasse and Helen Raymond Chasse, she was born in Augusta, ME and had lived in Arlington Heights, IL and Hobe Sound, FL before moving to Woodside Plantation, Aiken in 2006.
She was a 1960 graduate of St. Joseph College, Windham, ME. Joyce had been a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights, where she had served as the parish librarian from 1985-2003. She was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and the Women of Woodside. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her books, as any librarian would.
She is survived by her husband, David M. Russo, Aiken; a son, Mark Christine Russo, Plano, TX; three daughters, Margaret Robert Walsh, Winchester, MA, Miriam Randy Urban, Elk Grove Village, IL and Mary Beth Roan DelVero, Novi, MI and two sisters, Anita Duprey, Presque, ME and Therese Chasse, Old Orchard, ME. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Morgan, Jennifer, Danielle, Robby, Daniel, Carlie, Jack and Anna.
