Obituary of Jeanne Byrd Meyer

Jeanne Byrd Meyer, 75, of Aiken, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at MCG Hospital in Augusta, GA. A daughter of the late Cliff Byrd and Dorothy Brown Byrd, she was born in Elgin, IL but raised in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1952 and Southern Methodist University in 1956. Jeanne was married to Lynn David Meyer in 1958 and had two children, Lynn, Jr. and Andrea.
She was a homemaker in Port Arthur until moving with her husband to Blowing Rock, NC and Vero Beach, FL. In 2005 Jeanne and Lynn moved to Woodside Plantation in Aiken where she was a member of The Reserve Club, Women of Woodside and where she played bridge on Mondays with women she considered her guardian angels. She was a brave and courageous women who fought and won the battle against breast cancer and stroke. Jeanne was the sweetest, most loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Anyone who had the privilege to know her knew what a sweetheart she was. She will be missed by all.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lt. Col. Lynn D. Meyer, U.S. Army, ret, Aiken, a son; Lynn D. Vikki Meyer, Jr., Anacortes, WA and a daughter; Andrea Robert Meltzer, Arvada, CO. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Merrin Alexandra Meltzer, Brock David Meltzer and Marlee Reims Meltzer, all who will miss their "Sugie".
