A Funeral Liturgy for Mrs. Margaret Elaine Bafford will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11am at George Funeral Home & cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tony Bafford, Nathan Hooks, Todd Faulkner, Patrick Faulkner, Chris Cato, and Joseph Bafford with Charles Cato as honorary pallbearer Mrs. Bafford, 76, of Aiken, died, Friday, May 1, 2009 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and Marion Warthan Bowers. Before moving to Aiken in 1969 she lived in Tonawanda, NY, and Delmont, PA. She was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Margaret volunteered at the Golden Harvest Food Bank and the American Red Cross. She also founded and operated ABC Daycare in Aiken. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard Bafford, Sr., three brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Danny Faulkner, Carolyn Dale Hooks, both of Aiken; Patricia Bafford, Roanoke, VA; Katherine Mike Gilotte, Baltimore, MD; sons, Richard Susan Bafford, Jr., Ridge Spring, SC; Dr. David Olivia Bafford, Beavercreek, OH; Kenneth Faith Bafford, N. Augusta; Thomas Theresa Bafford, Trenton, SC; twenty three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight Sunday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
