Elmo,
I met you in 1996, when I moved to Aiken. Between snips of hair and recollections of the past, you told me stories that taught me about valor, pain, joy, humor, and wisdom.
In these stories about everything from war to gardening to fishing to Devil Anse Hatfield, you realized that your colorful language made me squeamish, and you honored me by changing your language. I am personally grateful for these stories, the honor you bestowed upon me, and for the choice you made to defend this country with your life.
You served your country honorably, and God will now honor His commitment to you.
