Obituary of Sidney Callis Reeves

Funeral services for Sidney Callis Reeves will take place on Thursday January 29, 2004 at 2pm at Talatha Baptist Church with Rev. David Lester officiating. Pallbearers will be Noah Reeves, Dale Reeves, Jason Enevoldsen, Arnold P. Reeves, Gregory Williams and Sherman Reeves. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Talatha Baptist Church 361 Talatha Church Rd. Aiken, SC 29803. Visitation was held at George Funeral Homes Southside Chapel 3175 Whiskey Rd. Aiken on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Mr. Reeves, 85, of Aiken, died January 26, 2004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Before moving to Aiken in 1951, he had lived in Richmond, VA. He was a member of Talatha Baptist Church where he was very active in Sunday School. He served his country in the Army during WWII in the 30th Infantry division, was involved in The Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #156. He retired from DuPont after 46 years where he worked in the Lab. Mr. Reeves was predeceased by his wife Dorothy White Reeves who died Christmas day of 2003 and a son Dwight Wayne Reeves who died in 1990. He is survived by two sons; Claude Dale Reeves, Aiken and Arnold P. Reeves, Edgefield, a daughter; Sylvia Williams, Graniteville, brother George Reeves, Glenview, IL, sister-in-law, Lois Reeves, Chester, VA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
