Obituary of James Allen Kohl

James "Jim" Allen Kohl, 86, entered into rest Friday, November 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born August 7, 1931 in Erie, PA to the late Harold and Ruth Richards Kohl. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following his early experience as a tool and die maker and a lengthy tenure at Micro Devices and Emerson Electric, he owned American Speedy printing in Aiken. After his retirement, Jim worked at George Funeral Home.
Jim was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken where he was a founding member of the men's prayer group. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. George Lewis Smith Council #3684 and was on the cemetery committee. He was also a member of the ARCS (Aiken Remote Control Society).
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Don Kohl.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn Ann Kohl of Aiken; sons, James J. Kohl (Laurel) of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Timothy F. Kohl (Marie) of Mayfield, KY, Kenneth J. Kohl of Portland, Maine and Jeffrey A. Kohl (Jon McGhee) of Columbus, OH; daughters, Margie Powell (Bill) of Atlanta and Dr. Patricia Kohl of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 PM at George Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 6:15 with an additional visitation until 8:00 PM.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Rev. Father Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1003 Spalding Dr.
