On behalf of the Chloe Lane Homeowner Association, I offer our sincere sympathy to Mr. Gene's family. Mr. Gene always had a smile in greeting. When I asked how he was, he'd answer "If I was any better, I couldn't stand it!" then he'd chuckle.

We would like to extend our prayers to you during a sad time. Mr. Hallman is now using that happy grin to all he is greeting in Heaven. He meant a lot to Bruce, as he was one of Bruce's first employer's and taught him a lot of good people skills with customers and fellow employee's as Bruce served under him as an assistant manager for several years. One of our happy memories is Mr. Hallman coming out to our home and fishing some during his years after the A&P. We know you have many wonderful memories, cherish these always. He was a very good man.

Dear Sherri and family,
We are so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad and brother. We remember your dad when he was so active in the church and later when he moved nearby. The obituary is beautiful. Our prayers go out to you and your family during this time.
Sincerely,
Pam Price Cook and Frances Price

I must say, I was blessed to have had so many aunt's and uncle's growing up. 15 on Mama's side and 13 on Daddy's. My parents enjoyed good relationships with each and every one of them and I have many wonderful memories of each of them as well. Only one uncle and his family lived close to the west coast and we didn't see them often. All of the others lived around the Aiken area and we saw them and their children,(my brother Wayne and my cousin's), during the holidays and at other times during the year. I felt these dear people were a part of me. After all, they had all been in my life, ALL OF MY LIFE! When I lose an uncle or an aunt, I feel a part of me is gone. You see, I always had an Uncle Gene,.........until now.
Eugene Hallman was a "salt of the earth" good man. He was a Christian and was loyal to St Paul's Lutheran church. He was a loving husband, a loving father and good provider for his family. He enjoyed his family and his extended family. I have memories of he and Aunt Nellie, Sheri, Janet and Glen at the beach, playing in the surf. Happy memories of every Christmas evening, getting together with the Lybrand side of the family. And especially, some Saturday evenings, he and Aunt Nellie playing "set-back",(cards) with Mama, Daddy, Aunt Mattie and Uncle Hudson. (After eating the wonderfully grilled hamburgers the men would cook on the grill, that is). Laughter would fill the air along with good natured competition and ribbing. Those were wonderful, happy times. I also fondly remember seeing him in the A&P in Aiken, where he was manager for so many years. Even though he was a busy grown man and I was a kid, he made a point to come down from his office to speak to me, I felt because I was a part of his family.
Sheri and Janet, I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Daddy and your dear brother, Glen. I believe they will see Jesus and reunite with your sweet, pretty mama. Glen will have peace.
As for me, I have lost another piece of myself that is so dear to my heart. My Uncle Gene, I love you and will miss you. I pray I will see my beautiful family when it is my time to leave this earth. In fact, I'm counting on it.
Love to you all, Pam

I am saddened to learn of Mr. Hallman's passing. My deepest condolences to his family. I want you to know that I was one of the people that had a lasting impact on my life, by simply offering me an opportunity at a very early age. And then later on helped me at a time in my life when I really needed it.
I have been blessed to have been very successful in business and personal life and part of that success was due to his help and guidance. Few men in my life are as well remembered with such warm memories.
