Memorial services for Mr. William Lowell Skelton will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 2pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service at a reception. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice in memory of Lowell.
Mr. Skelton, 85, of Aiken, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Bloomfield, MO, he was the son of the late John and Iva Bennett Skelton. Before moving to Aiken in 1988, he had lived in Sikeston, MO, and Marion, IL. He was a Mason and a member of the Woodside Country Club for over twenty one years. He retired from Fabick Machinery as a salesman after forty years of service. Lowell enjoyed walking, all types of music, dancing, sitting on his back porch with a glass of wine and admiring the beauty of nature. His true passion was golf and the strong friendships he made through the years. He served his country in the Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dora Ann Skelton, daughter Linda Biggs, and sister, Louise Kirrane. Lowell is survived by his daughter Carla Galloway and her husband Gregg, Sioux City, IA; grandson, Christopher Biggs and his wife, Kathy, Lexington, SC; John Clayton Biggs, Irmo, SC; Aaron T. Galloway, Rapid City, SD; Scott M. Galloway, Sean Galloway both of Lawrence, KS; great grandchildren, Brandon Biggs, and Grayson Biggs, both of Lexington.
