A memorial service for Mrs. Leslie Arlene Dawson, will be held at 7 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016, in the chapel of the historic GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society at www.braintumor.org
Mrs. Dawson, 61, of Aiken, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Long Beach, California, she was a daughter of Joy Tracy and the late Ralph Tracy. Mrs. Dawson taught High School French at Evans High School and Augusta Christian Schools. She was a member of FLAIR, Foreign Language Alliance for International Rapport, where she was also on the Steering Committee. Mrs. Dawson was Foreign Language Teacher of the year in 2014. During her teaching career, she also was a tennis coach and loved to take her students to France. Mrs. Dawson was a member of Houndslake Country Club, where she enjoyed spending time with her friends.
Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, Mike Dawson of Aiken, a daughter, Kelly Dawson of Portland, Oregon, a son, Kyle Dawson of Aiken; her mother, Joy Tracy of Long Beach, California and 2 sisters, Sherrill Shortle (Kent) of Los Alamitos, California and Sandra Tracy of Lakewood, California.
