Obituary of Jewell Newman Huffman

Mrs. Jewell Newman Huffman, 93, of New Ellenton, Sc died Monday, September 17, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
Mrs. Huffman will then be taken to McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, GA where there will be a funeral service on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11am with Rev. Jim Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Newnan. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Huffman was born January 23, 1914 in Upshaw, TX and moved to Heard County, GA around 1917. Her parents were Roger and Lucy Smith Newman. She graduated from Heard County High School and then married Basil L. Huffman.
Mrs. Huffman was employed by Monsour's Department Store in Newnan, GA for many years. When she retired in 1979, she moved to New Ellenton to be near her daughters.
She was an active member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, where she was the oldest living member, a member of the Belle Foreman Sunday School Class Janice Lindsey- teacher, Aiken County Council on Aging and Caleb's Crew Senior Citizens Group. She loved her church and senior groups and had wonderful memories of the many fun times with them. Her hobbies were reading her Bible, embroidery especially pillow cases for her family and friends, word search puzzles, making fried apple pies and having lots of fun.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving Mrs. Huffman are her three daughters; Gaynell Wright Alford, New Ellenton, Linda Sumner Don Aiken and Brenda Davis Paul Fernandina Beach, FL, grandchildren; Mike, Corey & Rick Staver, Don, Eric & Kathy Baker, Laura and Cindy Wright and Brandi James, siblings; Nina Folds, Irene Lane, Mary Turner, Myrtle Wilbur and Paul Newman, all of the Newnan, GA area. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Cailey, Savannah, Christian, Sara Reid, Jake, Grace, Anna, Brooke, Ashley, and several nieces and nephews.
