A memorial service for Mr. John "Jay" Walter Lawhead will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11am at Aiken's First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the Church Parlor after the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lifeline Foundation, 6068 Seashore Drive, P.O. Box 1601, Belize City, Belize, Central America. Mr. Lawhead, 57, of Aiken, died Sunday, March 21, 2010. Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late John Armin Lawhead and Elaine Bartholic Lawhead. Jay had a passion for life that was undeniable. When not walking barefoot on a beach somewhere he spent his time doing the things he loved such as cooking, gardening, reading, listening to music, and making people laugh until they cried. His newest love was his granddaughter Campbell. Everyone that met Jay walked away with a new friend. He is survived by his son, John Lindsay Lawhead, Greenville, SC; brother, Tom Lawhead, Windsor, SC; sisters, Carol Tarras, Fort Sheridan, IL; Laurie Reese, Aiken, SC ; Susan Donnelly, Evans, GA, granddaughter, Campbell Jean Lawhead, friend and former wife, Patty Lawhead.
