AIKEN, SC - Jon David Steinbach, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the comfort of his home and with the love of family.
Born September 12, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of the late John Emil Steinbach and Erna Gieselman Steinbach. Mr. Steinbach was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in chemical engineering and spent 40 years in the oil industry, retiring as a project manager.
He had made Aiken his home for the last 7 years. Mr. Steinbach loved his family more than anything, enjoyed working with his hands, playing tennis, and volunteering with the Bluebird Society. He donated much of his time volunteering with United Way repairing homes for people in need of his many talents. He was also a member of St. John's Methodist Church and was active in Senior Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Lewis Steinbach; a daughter, Whitney Bolyard of Charlotte, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Molly Steinbach of Woodbridge, VA, three grandchildren, Adrian Elizabeth Bolyard, Simon Gregory Steinbach and Lena Ann Steinbach, and a brother, Rev. Alan Steinbach, Richmond, VA.
A private service will be held in the chapel of Rose Hill Estate. The Reverend Timothy McClendon will officiate.
